October Happenings

This post is way overdue, so here are a few highlights that I can remember from October:

I spent a beautiful fall day with Adam's class at the apple orchard. It was definitely a fun way to get to meet all of his new friends/classmates.

We were able to spend an afternoon/evening catching up with our Eagan neighbors.
The nuk fairy visited our house and Evan did great!

Chase turned TEN! His new favorite thing to do is walk Adam to the bus stop in the mornings.

Evan and I spent lots of time with friends and neighbors doing fall activities.

Amy and Matt got married!!!!! Here is a collage from the rehearsal and a couple of pictures I took with my phone at the ceremony. Amy was a stunning bride and the reception was so fun.

Halloween! Our neighborhood has started a tradition that I love to keep all of the kids in our own neighborhood. Trick-or-treating starts shortly after school lets out (while there is still some daylight) and there are multiple tractors, four wheelers, etc with trailers attached bringing the kids around to all of the houses. The Cadillac golf cart was my favorite "ride" of the night. I also helped out with Adam's class party which was full of fun games, crafts, and treats!

Soccer

Adam played soccer on Saturday mornings this fall. He definitely learned a lot as he had never really played organized soccer before. They played all the way through October. The last Saturday of October was windy and cold, so I think he was pretty easy to be done for the parents and kids.

Swing

This swing was our birthday gift to Evan. It was a little bit of a hassle for Aaron to hang it from the tree, but these smiles made it all worthwhile. He loves it!

Touring the St. Croix

Our friends invited us out for a day on their houseboat. We started out at the marina and the kids did lots of swimming. In the afternoon, we took their boat out for a bit. I had never been south of Hudson on the river. The boys were quite impressed because they could go inside the cabin and watch movies if they wanted. Needless to say, they were both exhausted after a full day in and on the water!

Washington DC

I am just realizing how long I have neglected his blog. Back in September we traveled to Washington DC to attend a reception to celebrate Kate and Greg's wedding. We made a long weekend of it and got to take in some of the sights. I guess we were really enjoying ourselves at the reception because we hardly have any pictures from it and not a single picture of the newlyweds together!

We did a lot of walking so these two finally agreed to a break:)

Such a cute little chipmunk, loves to hold food in his cheeks:)

We did a Capitol tour, and they didn't even complain although it had to be a bit boring for them.

First Day of Kindergarten

Adam has always talked about kindergarten with anticipation and excitement. We have had a couple of opportunities to meet his teacher and some of his classmates, which makes the transition a little easier. Adam was most excited to ride the bus, and he hopped right on and never looked back. I had a knot in my stomach most of the day wondering how it was going for him - the bus ride, hot lunch, making new friends, etc. He was the last kid on the bus and got off with a smile from ear to ear. He had a great day. He told me there are a lot of rules to remember and he is exhausted from his full day by dinner time, but we are so thankful that he is having a great experience so far!!

Ready to get to the bus stop!

Willy and Adam both starting kindergarten (different classes)

Evan will definitely miss Adam all day (and vice versa)

Aaron went into work late so he could see Adam off to school

I can't believe he is big enough to be in school!!!

THREE

Evan turns three! His birthday falls right over Labor Day weekend, which is fun because we typically have a lot of the Sitzmann side in town visiting. He requested a tractor cake and we had a small celebration lunch with some of the immediate family.

Here is what he is up to at THREE!
  • He is very sweet and very cuddly most of the time, but definitely has a sassy/stubborn side. He will stand his own ground with Adam and is quick to tell us we are "naughty" if we tell him something he doesn't want to hear.
  • He is a chatterbox. He talks all day long and has quite the vocabulary. He loves when he can make us laugh, and he fills the house with his infectious laughter.
  • Evan adores his big brother! It is really sweet to watch their interactions. Now that Adam has started school, Evan gives him huge bear hugs when we pick him up or he gets off the bus.
  • He is a great eater and is always eager to try new foods.
  • Evan still naps every afternoon for a couple of hours. He LOVES his nuks. He is quite attached to them, but we will soon find out what life is like without them when the "nuk fairy" comes to visit.
  • Evan weighs 28.75lbs (37%) and is 3' tall (11%). He has the fastest little feet when he runs.
  • Evan displays no interest in potty training, but I would love to tackle this with him soon! He will sometimes tell me when he has gone potty in his diaper so I know he is ready.
  • Everyday Evan does things I didn't know he was capable of doing. We are really enjoying watching him discover and explore his surroundings. He has such a sweet disposition and is just so fun.
