San Diego - DAY 1

Jenn and Mike (Bubba) bought a house in San Diego and we figured it was the perfect opportunity for a getaway before the baby arrives. They moved in only a couple weeks ago and let us help them break in the house a bit. We decided to keep the first full day pretty low key because we figured Adam would need to adjust to the time difference. We headed to a beach in Carlsbad. There were lots of surfers to watch and perfect sand for playing.

San Diego - DAY 2

We packed up early for the San Diego Zoo. The zoo is enormous and we were able to see animals other than what we see at the zoos here (panda bears, elephants, polar bears, hippos). Adam would wave and say "hi" to all of the animals. We ate lunch at the zoo and let Adam ride the choo choo on our way out which he thought was pretty memorable. Jenn gave him a little panda that he has been carrying around since we got home. He was exhausted and slept in the car, but that was about all we could get him to nap. Jenn and Bubba have a community pool and parks in their neighborhood so we decided to take Adam for a quick swim that afternoon.

San Diego - DAY 3

Bubba knows that Adam loves choo choos and suggested we drive to Old Town and ride one of the trains. Adam was impressed by both watching the trains and riding one too. We walked to Seaport Village from one of the stops. Adam rode the carousel and watched the boats before we headed back to Old Town. We didn't know it ahead of time, but there was a huge Cinco de Mayo festival so there were lots of activities. We bought Adam a guitar from one of the tents which he was OBSESSED with. We ate at an amazing authentic Mexican restaurant which had a mariachi band. They played in front of our table for the longest time and Adam was mesmerized. He played right along with his guitar. They even put a chair in the middle of their band and invited Adam to play with them, but he was too timid. We headed back to Jenn and Bubba's for BBQ with some of their friends on their amazing patio (which I neglected to get any pictures of).

San Diego - DAY 4

Originally we had planned on going to SeaWorld one of the days of our vacation, but decided to head to the beach instead. Adam could play in the sand all day. We picked a beach with a park and Bubba brought his surf board so Adam could watch him surf. A few of Jenn and Bubba's friends met up with us and brought their kids along too so Adam had some playmates. After a fun day in the sun and a nice nap for Adam, we enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Benihana.

Goodbye San Diego

We had such a wonderful time in San Diego. We are already missing the weather, the beaches, the park, the delicious sandwiches and smoothies within walking distance, and of course Jenn and Bubba! Thanks again for a great visit!

Sneak Peak

I had my ultrasound today. It is always so reassuring to hear that everything looks normal. Here is a sneak peak of the baby. We didn't find out the baby's sex so you'll have to make your own predictions:)

Farm Babies

Our neighbor Willy came with us to meet Soren and Hanna and the MN zoo to check out the farm babies. None of the kids were too crazy about the petting zoo portion and preferred the animals behind fences or glass or the ones that weren't real at all.

Adam LOVES horses.

A truck or some nearby construction caught all of the boys attention. Adam always covers his ears for loud noises.

Ready, set, go!

Lil' Slugger

Since going to the Twins game, Adam has definitely taken more of an interest in playing baseball. He loves this pitching machine even though he rarely makes contact. I tried to tee it up for him, but of course he only wants to play like the big leaguers.

Nana's Birthday

To celebrate Nana's birthday, we met at Teddy Bear Park and then had a pizza lunch back at our place. It was a fun day!

Climbing some rocks
Adam loved going down the big slides - Aunt Amy climbed up to the top with him.

Hanna is hoping for a taste of some cake too
